Sue Bradford EdwardsWriter--Reviewer--Teacher--Historian I began writing when I took a continuing education course with author Patricia McKissack. Ms. McKissack anwered my many questions, helped me to see the strengths and weaknesses in my work, and encouraged me to write and submit. Without her, I would have been much slower in getting started. She also encouraged me to join the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Through this organization, I met and learned from excellent writers and editors, including my Young Equestrian editor, Tamara Duncan. I teach through Scribe and Quill to return some of what these talented people have given me. The first course is Writing Children's Nonfiction. The second, Memoir Writing, came about when one of my alumni could not find a memoir writing course online. Because my students and I often become close, alumni receive a monthly e-mail update listing alumni publishing credits, possible markets, handy sites and much more. Although each course is designed to be completed in only four weeks, the schedule is highly flexible. I encourage my students to take more time as needed, because the point is to learn as much as possible.
